Magazine

the final issue of The SX, original, covering the arts and entertainment “scene” from Osoyoos to Kamloops, BC. It was a product of passion and I definitely have missed promoting the arts to a wider audience!

The Standard Exhibit, explained

It started when I was managing editor to my student newspaper.. the idea to blanket the entire region with a free to pick up newspaper/ magazine covering the arts and entertainment. It started as a tabloid layout newsprint based publication.. full colour cover to cover and I had some great contributors for it.

The Rebirth

example cover; to be reshot asap.

As I am nearing the nautical launch of Ocean Cyclist.. and motivated by my METAverse recently being entirely NUKED.. I needed something outside the box to grow and promote my project.. and while a simple newsletter is cool- my heart has always looked to larger platforms, larger ideas. So.. The Standard Exhibit!

The Magazine is proposed to be “Digest Sized” or 5″ by 8.25″ in size and have up to about 120 pages, full colour cover to cover (that meant more when I first launched in the 90’s.. now, it’s more of an expectation). It’ll be “Saddle Stitched (staple bound) and I’ll be examining specialty options such as a fold- out center fold for a fun three- page big picture/ poster and more.

It will be ad supported.. the printing and distro costs have to be covered some how.. but my goal is to keep advertising to a minimum.

And with a three month print cycle, the goal is to have a cool arts and entertainment event hosted following street date by a week or so.. thus, the magazine will preclude and push local attendance for the event!

Tiny Galleries- a passion project for 2024 and 2025 that I ran, with my wife, in Bowness exhibiting art to the public for free!
